Why do we celebrate Christmas?

The words Christmas derives from "Christ`s Mass", the special church service which celebrates the birth of Jesus Christ.

What day is the main Christmas celebration in Britain?

Christmas is celebrated on the 25th of December with Christmas dinner at midday for the whole family.

What is eaten for Christmas dinner?

A traditional English or British Christmas dinner includes roast turkey or goose,
brussels sprouts, roast potatoes, cranberry (jõhvikas) sauce, rich nutty stuffing, tiny sausages wrapped in bacon.

Christmas pudding is followed after Christmas dinner. The pudding is traditionally steam-cooked and some people put a coin or two in the pudding. It`s considered good luck to bite on the coin (maybe better luck for the dentist!)

What is a Christmas cracker?

Crackers are tubes made of cardboard and covered with paper which make a loud bang when you pull them open. They contain sweets, small toys or a joke written on a slip of paper.
